Dr. Berard

Research

Only Dr. Berard's methods have been tested and proven, repeatedly, in double-blind studies when conducted exclusively as Dr. Berard designed: in-person with a qualified trained practitioner, music modulated with proper filters, and utilizing high definition headphones for a period of 30 minutes, twice a day, over the course of ten days.

The AIT treatment, ethically, can only be administered in-person and not over the internet as some practitioners have unfortunately adopted, deviating from Dr. Berard's methods.  Those practicing with these methods have not received the level of results those following the Classical Berard AIT have received.  Additionally, there have been many reports of individuals being harmed when the practices were deviated from and utilized inappropriately.

Hearing Equals Behavior

In his flagship book, "Hearing Equals Behavior", Dr. Berard outlines how he developed AIT, as well as case studies of those healed from "learning disabilities, depression, and even autism."

It should be noted Dr. Berard is the ONLY author of this book.  However, in the decades since his self-written book was published others have plagiarized his writings, adding their names to his work, without permission.  Our foundation does not endorse these materials and encourages people to read Dr. Berard's book as he published it years ago.

When looking for his book, below is a photo of the authorized book he wrote, which we encourage all parents to read.

"Everything happens as if human behavior

were largely conditioned by

the manner in which one hears."

History of Dr. Guy Berard

Dr. Guy Berard was a French Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist who invented Auditory Integration Training to help his family, and later the world.

Dr. Berard first developed what we now know as AIT to try and cure himself, and later his wife, of tinnitus.  He did this by utilizing modulated and filtered music to release the stapedius muscle in the middle ear.  Amazingly this technique worked and both Dr. Berard and Mrs. Berard were cured of their tinnitus completely.

Dr. Berard then realized the powerful abilities of AIT and turned his attention towards autistic and learning-disabled children.  With the support and guidance of Peter and Annabelle Stehli of the Georgianna Institute, Dr. Berard was able to bring AIT to America where thousands of children's lives have been changed.

How Dr. Berard's AIT Works

Dr. Berard's method is based on a physiological-educational (not emotional) approach.  He knew the stapedius muscle, (the tiniest muscle in the body!) located within the ear can tighten, which results in the body not allowing sound to flow evenly to the auditory nerve.

He discovered that if he could make this muscle relax, proper sound flow to nerve and brain would be restored.  He did not foresee the immense benefits that uninhibited hearing would have on brain function, learning disabilities, and other brain operations!

Dr. Berard taught about hearing distortions. He said they can contribute to inappropriate or antisocial behavior, irritability, lethargy, impulsivity, and high-tension levels.

After AIT, patient improvements showed more appropriate social response, expression, and interaction with family and peers, reading ability and comprehension, as well as improved articulation and speech.
